We Lived Next to a Graveyard… What Happened Still Haunts Us

My father grew up in a small chawl with his family of four—his father, mother, younger brother, and himself. The chawl they lived in had a graveyard right in front of it, setting an already eerie atmosphere.

When they first moved in, my grandfather built a back door near the kitchen for convenience. But that door would soon become the source of something terrifying.

A Warning in a Dream

One night, my grandmother had a horrifying dream. She saw a man standing at the back door, staring at her. She woke up screaming, shaking with fear. My grandfather and the kids rushed to calm her down, dismissing it as just a nightmare.

Two days later, something even stranger happened.

The Trail of Blood

During the daytime, my grandmother was walking into the kitchen when she noticed that the back door was wide open. She ignored it at first, thinking someone had left it open.

She left the room for a moment to fetch something.

When she returned—she froze.

long trail of blood had appeared out of nowhere, starting from the back door and leading into the hall.

A terrified Indian woman standing in a dimly lit kitchen, staring at a long trail of blood leading from the back door into the hall.

She let out a piercing scream, calling for help. Neighbors rushed in, and together they wiped away the blood.

But the terror didn’t end there.

The Other Incidents

After that day, they started hearing stories from other families in the chawl—they too had seen strange things. Many had witnessed a man wandering around, and the way they described him perfectly matched the man in my grandmother’s dream.

It wasn’t just one incident—this had happened many times before.

The Aftermath

The experience left my grandmother severely ill. She never fully recovered and sadly passed away in 2004. The events in that house were too much for my family to bear.

They moved out immediately, leaving behind the haunted house and its terrifying memories.
